The Story Behind The Print – African Shield - African Shield emerged from the combination of the natural vine depending upon man-made concrete and brick walls and columns for support – interdependency. The question arises which one is permanent and which is temporary. This print relates to a key print in the series, Russian Winter. In my early years as an artist I was extremely motivated by African sculpture.
